This morning we all had breakfast together, then after a little while, Claudio came over to play with Nic for the day. We went to the Game Shop to play Warhammer because Grandma had bought the set for him and the paints as well.
When we arrived at the shop we sat down in the back and Daniele came and showed the boys what they needed to do. One little boy that was there last time was here again... Nic said he is taking painting lessons from Daniele, Daniele did look at some of his figures and critique them some, but they looked really good for a kid about 8 years old. He was painting the cave troll from the Lord of the Rings Mines of Moria, hammer, chain, and all. First Daniele said that we had to assemble all the little characters to the bases and attach the ones that are loose with super glue. Then we go through and add arms/weapons to them if they don't already come with them. Most of the elves already had arms/weapons, but the Skavin (rat men) needed one arm attached with super glue. After attaching the arms, Daniele showed us how to paint a glue/paste on the base of the figurine and then add sand or moss making it look more realistic. All of this took up our hour we had researved, so Daniele told us we could finish assembling the rest of the box of figurines (we'd done 2 of 5-6 sheets of figurines) then, if we wanted, we could come back to the shop to paint them.
On the way home, the boys told me they'd enjoyed the creating their soldiers and we had them all with us and when we arrived home, they finished assembling them all and adding some more sand. Then we started to play a game Claudio's dad had invented, Terre Invisibile, it's kind of like a mix between Dungeons & Dragons and Monopoly. It takes a really long time though and we didn't get to finish. We watched The Garfield movie while we played and when the parents got home, it was late and they had to get to bed.
