Beauty is Where You Look for It

Novembre 14, 2010

We FINALLY finished the advertisement homework that is due Monday. YAY! Fought tooth and nail to get all we got on the page, but we got it. ;)

I decided since it was a beautiful, sunny day... I'd put on a nice pair of shorts, tshirt, and light jacket and head to Ostia, a beach just a 2 metro rides away. :) SO! I hopped on the bus at about 3? I think... then the metro (had to ask which train/metro it was and where I should trade ecc...) then when I got to the exchange stop, I had to ask one more time which train took me there. FINALLY, I was on the train to Ostia... then I got off at the stop called, 'Ostia'... (wrong stop, this is some ruins that close at about 16.30-17.00...) so I go back and wait for the train and then get off at the RIGHT stop, two stops away. Then, I found my way to the beach and to a pier just as the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen begins in all it's glory.

Ostia is kind of like Galveston, TX for anyone who knows it, fun shops, booths on the beach, carnival... the whole deal. There was even had a puppet show going on when I walked by one booth. Cotton candy, candy sold by the gram... a kids dream... Since I had been held up by the mix up at the train stop, and I was planning on seeing a movie later, I was a bit in a rush after I arrived in Ostia. After sunset, I grabbed a pizza (funghi, margherita) and a gelato (cafe'/?) then headed back to meet Jelco and Aneta for the movie.

We met up at Piazza del Popolo, I introduced them, and we watched the film, 'Social Network'. A film about the beginnings and drama behind the making and running of Facebook. I think the most interesting thing I found about the movie was the complexity of the human mind, body, and actions. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I do recommend the movie. I think it is a decent story, nothing ground breaking or unheard of, but told in a way that makes you think about yourself, at least it did me.

After the movie, Jelco and I decided to head to Scholars, in Piazza Venezia to watch Inter v. Milan... we sat for a little while. Again, failed to 'enjoy' my drink (both because I drank it too fast and since they didn't have coke zero, I had to settle for diet coke) Then some friends called and said they wanted to meet me at Piazza Navonna to have a cafe'. It was nearby so I headed that way with the intention of just saying hi and returning... then the tiramisu happened(I can't turn down sweets, it's like my kryptonite)... *le sigh* I apologized to Aneta and Jelco for leaving them, but promised we'd get to hang out in the coming week.

It was a long day, but very enjoyable, filled with beauty in so many shapes, sizes, colours, facets, and questions...
