The Many Gifts of McDonalds

Ottobre 2, 2010

Saturday, saturday, saturday! Raffa bought a new router and told me if it had instructions in English, I could set it up, but if I was unsure, to not do it (this makes me feel like it cost a lot, now I feel even worse). She said she'd be out of town for a while and she'd get back Sunday evening/afternoon. I started working on the router right away (I knew my readers would be almost starved for lack of material, I must work quickly). The instructions were in 12 different languages I think. Yes English was one of them. Holy cow. The router was easy to set up, instructions were easy to follow (lots of pictures), but while I was setting it up, it asked for information only my internet service provider (ISP) could provide. Dang. Well, I figured out the number to the ISP by asking Paola, I called them, and after about 2 hours found someone who could understand me and I them, then was told they don't have any technicians there until Monday morning. Lame-0-saurus Rex. So at best, the router will be working Monday. In the mean time, these temporary blogs that you can't actually read, but that keep me from getting so far behind I forget copious amounts of details.

I play some computer games a little while, read some... then hit the town for some more strolling. I take my computer to McD's and try to connect, I'm having some difficulty, but am able to get to the sign in page when a girl asks if I am getting the wireless signal. I say yes, we start talking, I try to help her get her signal working, she asks if she and her friend could join me, I say of course. Her name is Aneta and his name is Sasha. We introduce everyone and chat about where we're all from and what we're all doing here and so on and so forth. Sasha is a language student from Russia, he speaks Russian and Italian, but understands English. Aneta is from Poland and is an Au Pair as well and speaks Italian, English, and Polish. We hung out for a little while, then they asked if I wanted to go with them to check some movie times for the Julia Roberts movie, Manga. Prega. Ama. (Eat. Pray. Love). We went to Piazza Repubblica and checked the show time for the next day, we decided on 16.30, then headed to the termini were I
could take a bus to the flat and Aneta could take one back to her residence near Villa Borghese, and Sasha could walk back to his, near the Colosseo. It was nice meeting people my age, strange circumstances, but I think things happen for a reason. ;)

I went back to try and fix the router again, niente... read some, won some chess (I'm getting more consistent at that), then nodded off to dream world.
